Are You a Christian?
We believe that is the most important question you will ever be asked. We try to answer this question, and all other questions by, looking directly at the Bible. We challenge you to examine the scripture for yourself and decide what you believe is the Bible's answer.
The best way to understand how to become a Christian is to read the Bible, especially the New Testament.
The Bible story, from first to last, is about Jesus Christ. He is the center of scripture and the center of the mind and purpose of God. All our hope of salvation is based not on things we do to please God, but upon the amazing love of Jesus who died for our sins.
The first requirement to become a Christian is faith in Jesus. Many passages make this clear, but one of the most plain is Hebrews 11:6 "And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him."
Now, the Bible does not teach that any faith (or belief) is satisfactory. In fact, the Bible notes that "Even the demons believe...and shudder." (James 2:19) But demons are certainly not saved.
The "faith" which saves is one which causes the believer to obey the teachings and commands of God as revealed in the Bible. Jesus makes this clear at the end of His well-known "Sermon on the Mount," when He says, "Not everyone who says to me 'Lord, Lord' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven. "(Matthew 7:21)
The source of faith is God's word, the Bible. (Romans 10:17 "Faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ.")
