Freetown Church of Christ plans to hold its first Elders Day since 2019 due to the pandemic.

The public is invited to the event, which will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on October 27 at the Church, 7077 N. State Road 135, Freetown.

The theme will be “Old Friends”. JD Miller, who along with Bill and Gloria Gaither wrote the song “Old Friends,” is a gifted singer and speaker and will be the pianist of the day, according to a church press release.

The day’s lineup includes singers, musicians and preachers and a playwright, Betty Gray, who will perform her popular Fanny Crosby drama.

The list also includes Jim Hutson, Ron Bridgewater, Calib Smith, Bryan and Yvonne Hutson, Mike Bartlett and Barry DeWitt, who is the pastor of Freetown Church of Christ. He will sing, preach and host during the day.

The Pines will provide lunch, which costs $15. Menu includes Swiss Steak, Swiss Chicken Casserole, Chicken Fillets, Mashed Potatoes and Gravy, Green Beans, Coleslaw, Rolls, Tea, Sweet Tea and lemonade. The church will provide the desserts.

Registration is required so that the meal can be paid for in advance.
