History of the Heartland is hosting an idea sharing and organizing meeting with any church interested in participating. The meeting will be Wednesday, October 12 at 11:30 a.m. at Paul’s Confectionary, 999 North Water Street, Decatur. Please call (217) 791-1385 for reservations. Churches are encouraged to send a representative to this meeting or to call for more information.

History of the Heartland is a non-profit organization whose mission is to preserve our structures and the stories of our people. This is a consortium of over 20 organizations and every May they hold a Historic Preservation Week with a variety of events. Past “Church Events” include a tour of Church Street Church Stroll and Stained-Glass Stories. The stained glass stories event was particularly appreciated by many members of the community. It consisted of interior visits to 4 historic churches with a guide to tell the story of their magnificent windows.

This meeting is the result of several community members asking the organization to host more Church events. Our area has a huge range of churches with fascinating stories and histories. Please call Ayn at (217) 791-1385 for more information.
