Shoppers will find plenty of bargains at the Yorkville Congregational United Church of Christ’s fall thrift and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday, October 14 and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, October 15.

A selection of household items, toys, books, clothing for all ages, furniture, tools, holiday decorations, collectibles, jewelry and sundries will be available.

A popular tradition of the two-day event is the bake sale with an assortment of homemade treats, which sell out quickly.

Saturday is bag day when bargain hunters can fill a brown paper grocery bag provided for $3. Remaining larger items that won’t fit in a grocery bag can be purchased for half price.

Wearing a mask is encouraged as this event can get crowded.

This biannual event is a longstanding tradition at the church. The ladies of the church circle began holding street markets more than 40 years ago in the building that now houses Chapel on the Green. Proceeds from the sale will support church programs, ministries, building needs and charities that help meet the needs of people in the Yorkville area and beyond.

The church is located at 409 Center Parkway in Yorkville. For more information, call the church office at 630-553-7308.
